6ds agoPolice say a car crashed into a utility pole Wednesday night in Wyandanch, knocking it down.
They say it happened on Straight Path and Merrit Avenue near the train station.
Flames could be seen shooting from downed wires at the scene of the crash.
Wires were also seen draped across another vehicle.
Police say the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
PSEG Long Island says about 2,000 people in the area lost power.
