We are kicking off Memorial Day weekend, but we're remembering what the weekend means and it means saluting our flag and saluting the people who died for our country. And we have some veterans who better to talk to about this topic, making sure Long Islanders realize what this weekend means. Jackie Gordon, here to talk about your service and the service of those who have passed. Thank you Erin. Thanks for having us. And Memorial Day is a day to remember our veterans and to remember that freedom isn't free. And today, this weekend, we remember the ultimate sacrifice and veterans not only made the ultimate sacrifice, but during their time of service, there are other sacrifices because freedom isn't free. Lenore. Can you speak to just simple things? Long Island families can do this weekend to make sure they keep that thought alive. Absolutely. So this weekend, there are numerous parades and memorials around our towns, our local communities, unfortunately, they are not heavily participated in. Like before this weekend is also my fault, his birthday. And I remember in the past we would try to take him out for dinner, take him out, you know, to celebrate his birthday. But we was always at Memorial Day because that's how important it was to him as a World War II veteran. It's not just about the beach and the barbecues. It is about what our flag stands for. Memorial Day weekend. And we remember it for what it stands for, for those who have lost their lives, for our country. And right now we want to introduce you to Pat Coviello, a veteran here. And of course, we know it's on Veterans Day. It's Memorial Day Weekend, but no better person to talk about what the weekend means to you. Yes. It's a reflection of what we're going through, the people, we lost the relatives, the friends. I was in Vietnam, lost many friends, young kids, young kids and today is a day of remembrance. So we shouldn't forget because people tend to forget how, how important is it to remind them? Because if you haven't lived that experience, if you haven't lost a loved one, maybe you take it for granted. You've probably seen some of this. Yes. How can you, you, unless you're there, you really can't understand fully what they go through. But to bring it up just to think about it once a year and maybe to talk to a veteran is, is, is what we need to do to keep it in our minds. So it shouldn't happen again. Hopefully. Although I'm not sure we learned our lesson in this country from past experience, unfortunately. But that's, that's about what it is just simple things for families to do this weekend to remember what the weekend is about. Go to a parade. Think about a vet, think about someone that they lost. Absolutely. The parades are good. We're here doing our poppy program. The vets and the farm war does them. And that's a good way to remember the law. You take the Poppy and you display it and you know, you walk around with this for the weekend. It's a good reminder. The poppies are a good reminder of what's going on. Hello, you guys welcome. I'm very excited to have Brendan with us here this morning because this is a and they've never actually participated in the air show. How are you guys feeling, feeling really excited? Happy to be here. I love that. And for you, this is your first year with The Golden Knights. Your second year. Any nerves going into a show be like 400,000 people watching you. Uh, but not too bad. We train year round so, uh, ready to go and then you're totally fine with it. You know, I've, I've done, I'm just happy to be out here. I was really looking forward to this show and by the way, so is Brandon, I did ask him before. He said he has done this before. This isn't his first time. You guys really cool features in this show where you guys parachute out. Tell me about the, so our canopy relative work. That's where we take one parachute and we'll stack another parachute on and up to three and then it turns it from pretty much one parachute into three and it takes a lot of team work. It takes a lot of concentration to fly three parachutes as one parachute. Ben, I'm so glad I'm not a part of that. Preparations are underway for this weekend's air show at Jones Beach and you might have even seen or heard those big birds soaring across NASA and Suffolk. Today news twelve's Kristen mcnally joins us now from Farmingdale with a look at the build up to the big weekend. We are at Republic Airport where many of the planes that will be featured in the best Page Air show are going to be taking off from tomorrow and Sunday. But as many who live on the island know today's practice is just as mind blowing and thousands showed up to catch a glimpse real long Islanders come today. The true Islanders are here today. High flying machines, defying gravity and taking Spectators along for a wild ride. Pretty cool so far. Just really loud, like crazy. Yeah. Yeah, loud. The much anticipated 2023 best page air show is happening this Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 3. This show is designed to pack a punch emotionally. You know, you'll hear it, you'll feel it. It's designed to inspire Captain Katie Toner with Thunderbird 12 says there is something for everyone to enjoy as the pilots take to the sky to demonstrate their skills. The jets are flying approximately 18 inches apart from canopy to wing tip in a specific maneuver called the Diamond Passing review. Performers include the sky taper, the United States Air Force Thunderbirds, five World War II aircrafts and more. It reminds me of when I was a kid going to air shows and having the same experience and talking to a pilot who was willing to take the time out of his day to show me their aircraft and it sent me down the road, a pilot myself and those we spoke with say, this is the best way to have a meaningful memorial day and to honor all of those who serve the country, support your military. We love our military, we love our veterans. We love celebrating America and all the people that served our nation and our country. It's in honor of these veterans who didn't come back, who we mortal and miss very much again. The air show is tomorrow and Sunday and officials tell me the earlier you show up the better as it is sure to be a packed crowd. Every year looking into the sky. And you know what one of the only Long Islanders the pilot in the air show. He is a Long Islander and he works with us. He's our chopper 12 pilot. I got a behind the scenes. Look with David windmiller, one of the aerobatic pilots in the air show. The best page air show at Jones Beach is one of the most exciting ways to spend Memorial Day weekend. All of these planes high in the sky doing those death defying stunts. But did you know a Long Islander is in the center of it all, David Windmiller is one of the only Long Islanders in the Sky this weekend. He's also our very own chopper pilot. This is where all the action happens. What is it called? Zip Edge? What is it like to fly this plane above the air show in front of the hometown crowd. It's an incredible airplane. It's really small. It almost looks like a toy, but it's built extremely strong. It's built to do things that no other aircraft in the world can do. Talk me through some of the aerobatic loops that you do for the air show. So most of aerobatics is composed of a combination of loops and rolls. But aircraft like this, what we've learned in the unlimited category over the years is to get them to do things that engineers didn't believe were possible, such as tumble somersaults, cart wheels, that kind of thing. What is it like for you? You know, a lot of people go and they do air shows for people they don't know on the ground, you know, a lot of people on the ground. What's that like? It's really special. I've lived in New York my entire life in Long Island for the good part of it. We have five kids growing up here. So we have lots and lots of friends that come to see me at the show every year. So you keep us safe in our chopper. I've been flying Chapter 12 now for about five years and it's a fun job. I love it. I do it part time. I have a lot of other things, but I do that because I really enjoy it. And we are so proud to have him on board our team. He's amazing and it's got to be amazing for him to look down and see all his family and friends. Long Islanders. Yes, it's incredible to watch. We want to give you a sneak peek of what's going on all across the island to get us ready for summer. Take a look across the island before the fun in the sun. The work is well under way to get our beaches, pools, parks, docks and waterways ready for the thrills of summer. We are looking forward to a very exciting year in Oyster Bay, the town is hard at work restoring and upgrading its summer time. Crown jewel to Bay Beach which is under the constant threat of beach erosion. We brought in 25,000 tons of sand and our team did an expert job. A brand new marina will also greet boaters on the bay side of the beach on the north shore. The town of North Hempstead is partnering with North Well Health to install these new sunscreen dispensers at North Hempstead Beach Park in Islip. The lifeguard stands are getting a fresh coat of paint as the town prepares to open more than a dozen beaches and hire nearly 500 seasonal employees. We have people from Fire Island to Lakeron Con to Bayport to West Islip. Getting ready right now in Long beach, the city is giving its lifeguards a raise. We are very competitive now at 20 bucks an hour. So if you're a lifeguard, come on down, get a job. But here in the city by the sea, it's not just all about the ocean. This year, there's another landscape on the other side of the boardwalk that has a lot of people very excited about summer. The brand new and re imagined Magnolia Playground will be ready to go. Much to the delight of some of the city's youngest residents. What's your favorite part? And what slide, the slide. Yeah. You know, it was great to see. She was not the only one, so many kids out watching it get built and now they cut the ribbon yesterday so that Magnolia Playground is good to go. It's a good feeling. It's a good.

Let's talk all about it. Everyone is so excited to be back here, Adam Cron, talking to us about Live Nation and the concerts that's going to be presented this summer and we're starting off with the blast in the past and Shaggy. Yeah, there's something for everybody this year and I can assure you that the staff is more excited than everybody else who's coming to see the shows. There's new renovations. We haven't been able to see exactly what they are just yet, but everyone's getting excited rock. That's a big thing. This summer we have Box 20. We have Counting Crows. Don't forget we've got the classics that are coming through. You've got the Dave Matthews of the world. You've got Zach Brown, you've got stings that James Taylor is coming through. Huge country. Fans. Country is just like getting bigger and bigger on Long Island. It's always been around for me. But yeah, bigger and bigger. Luke Bryan, Zach Brown and Sam hunt. Sam Hunt. Oh my God. Some people are concerned. Other people say I'm going in the ocean no matter what Jen, what can you tell us? That's ok. Yeah, Richard Erin. Good morning to you here at Cedar Beach. We also have our shark expert Greg Metzger with us. You are with the South Fork Natural History Museum. Mouthful and he drove all the way out to Ridge to meet us and talk about sharks because that is definitely on the minds of many people if they do come out to our beautiful South Shore beaches this holiday weekend. Yeah, absolutely. I appreciate the opportunity to come and talk to you from. We've been out on the water a few times already and I guess good news is we have not caught any sharks yet, but after this, we're going to go and try again today. So it's just the start of the summer. Sharks that were all the craze last year. And so looking forward to seeing what this year brings for us. What can we tell folks who are going to be out on the sand if they do want to go in the water to be on the lookout for. Yeah, the biggest thing you want to be looking for is the sharks food, which is why most of the sharks are here. They, most of the sharks are feeding on the large of bunker fish or Men Hayden that are here. So if you do see large schools of fish, if you see whales and dolphins, if you see ospreys diving into the water, they're probably feeding on that bunker and the sharks are there as well. So just be aware before you go in the water, take a look to make sure there aren't the bunker schools there and enjoy your time at the beach. It's awesome and I know you guys are heading out to capture you and your friends and you're going to go take some sharks. So I don't want to keep you waiting. Jackson and Max, they're young, but they've been surfing for what you said, 10 years, almost 13 years. You're so excited, right? For the summer season to kick off. You've been surfing all year though. But what are some tips that people want to go out on the water and try surfing? I mean, like, get a nice soft top, make sure you're going out and weaves you could handle and stay safe and this is a good weekend to go out. I mean, it might be a little cold for some people, but, I mean, if you have enough determination, what's your favorite part about surfing? Yeah. Uh, just like the whole aspect of being in the water. I love being in the water. I'll stay in the water for as long as I could. And Max can't forget about you. I know you were on the news last year. You were bitten by a shark on your foot. That hasn't stopped you from getting back in the water. No, not at all. I've been in, like, ever since three weeks of me getting bit. I've surfed all year round as I have for the past, like, 10 years, just like Jackson and I can't wait to get back in as soon as possible again. Hopefully this weekend. Yeah. Yeah. Always thinking about the summer and how we're going to get places and there will be some work out on the roads that we need to be aware of. So Angela is back with us now to tell us what we should look forward to or maybe not so much. Well, you know, long long Islanders, we love the beach. This is a beautiful place to come. There are so many summer activities that you can head to. But the one thing dreaded here is the traffic. This Memorial Day weekend trip a says 37.1 million drivers will fill up their tanks and head to their destinations by car. There are lots of attractions on Long Island that people want to experience. So. Long Islanders themselves are going to them and people from outside Long Island are coming here. We caught up with AAA Robert Sinclair at the Long Island. Welcome center off the He believes this Memorial Day weekend travel will be the third busiest on record and that means lots of extra traffic across the island. You've got commuters mixing with holiday travelers and the roads will be very busy. Indeed, we recommend leaving before noon if you can possibly do so. But the good news is you don't have to drive to all of your favorite places on Long Island. You can hop on a south shore ferry from Bay Shore and head to many of the Fire island communities or jump aboard the north or south ferry to Shelter Island, heading out to the south fork, leave the car at home. You can catch the L R to popular destinations like Monto Sag Harbor and the Hamptons all stops along the Monta branch.

Where we really only seem to associate them with a certain season or time of year. One of those is food insecurity. We think about Thanksgiving. We think about the holidays, maybe not necessarily the summer. And with our kick off the summer show, live from Jones Beach this morning, we wanted to invite Island harvest to come on down and talk to us about that specifically, the need is all year long. We have Joe Barry from Island harvest and you can speak to that. Excellent. Thank you for bringing attention to this. At the end of the school year, a lot of kids are getting anxious about finals and the end of school, but there were parents who are feeling anxious about having enough food for the summer Children who are in school, get a breakfast and a lunch who are in need. But when school is out, island harvest is there to help them with their food insecurity over the summer, five locations serving over 1500 Children on a regular basis. So that is a lot of meals and a lot of support. In addition, it's Memorial Day Weekend are veterans making sure that they have the food that they need over the summer. And then beyond that, to Long Islanders who are in need right now, we're looking at about 40% of Long Island families who are struggling out there. 25% of Children don't know where their food is going to come from. And they're making decisions as to whether they have to fix a flat tire, whether they need assistance with their food, medical bills, different bills, expenses that they have, and we want to make sure that they are all fed. Start to get ready for summer. One of the things we think about are the many food trucks and the vendors who are out there and everyone looks forward to it. Food trucks have just taken off, especially here on Long Island. We got everything this morning from Tacos. Philly cheese steaks, waffles. Can't forget some coffee. Let's go over to Jen Selig who's live at Cedar Beach right now with some of our Long Island food trucks. Hey, Jen, there's the coffee right there. It's a good thing. I only ate a granola bar this morning. Look at all these sweet treats. We're here with milk and honey, the food truck with Joe Morrow, the owner of the business. Joe, thanks so much for preparing all these sweet treats. What? Talk to me, what your business is all about. So our business is not a traditional food truck, not your regular vanilla and chocolate. We have 12 different flavors that appeal to kids, adults and everywhere in between. So we make Belgian waffles. We make sundaes. We make homemade cookie sandwiches with any flavor. So it's not like I said, your traditional just vanilla ice cream sandwich. So we do any flavor milkshake with mix ins and, you know, it's a little bit for everybody and the summer has to be, you know, busy for you guys. Obviously it is. It is. We do a lot of private events. We do a lot of corporate events, staff appreciation, we do teachers appreciation week. Last week we did and we do a lot of kids parties, adult parties graduations. So it is, it's kind of busy, especially this time of year. What made you want to get involved? Well, I was looking for something to do with him and I figured this would be. So he works on the truck and we do a lot of events with the Autism Society. So he does those and I just figured it's something different rather than the regular vanilla and chocolate ice cream truck. We have, like I said, a multiple flavors and tons of toppings and you can mix and match and make anything you want. Do you have a favorite? I do. It's the Mississippi mud. It's coffee ice cream with fudge and crunch. I try some. It. Oh, that's good. That's good. That's a coffee shake with cinnamon toast. Crunch and maple syrup. About a little bit more about barbecue safety for this summer. Yeah, it's that time of year. We're all looking forward to it. We got Chief John Murray with us. Chief. Thanks for being here. I wish I had a grill like this at home. Let's talk about uh, safety though when you're at the barbecue. Some of this stuff. Maybe people take for granted, but it's certainly good to refresh this time of year. First thing to remember before you ever use a is make sure it's in proper working order. It's on a stable ground so it can't fall over. Many accidents happen that way kids get burned. Thousands of kids get burned because they're too close to it. So there should be a safety zone of about three ft around the grill. Make sure it's not in an area that's covered. Never use a gas grill or a charcoal grill in the house because of carbon monoxide. And uh, I saw one time where a guy used it in the garage. No more garage, you know, and, and you know, that may be an extreme example, but you think about summer backyard barbecues, you can get distracted if you're the one behind the grill, especially with the kids running around. Is that something that's also a concern? Absolutely. That's why the safety zone, the other thing is alcohol and grilling don't mix. You know, everybody likes to have a few, uh, frosty wheat beverages. Not a good idea around the grill. The other thing with the grills is the propane barbecue. Make sure the tank is in good condition if there's, uh, no leaks, check the hose with the soapy solution. Any leaks, call your fire department immediately and get away from it. You can grab this coin art at big box stores like Home Depot for 100 bucks and they should do the job as well because you don't know if it's a fad you're going to stick with or you're going to get bored of. It is very true. Very true. Ok. So, do you want a fire pit? Yes. Absolutely. Great. You can get a smokeless one that will cost you about 200 $50 from solo stove. We love smokeless. But if you're not sure you want the fire pit also, you want to make some wars for 50 bucks. You can grab one on Amazon too and of course they go up in price. So also fire pits are great kids love them. It's great to entertain at night. Portable grills. If you're going to, you know, go camping or you're going to go tailgating, everybody needs portable grill. Right. You can score something like a Webber Home Depot for just under 400 bucks. It comes up to 600 degrees. It's easily transported. It comes with a mini thermometer or you can get a common grill for just $150. And that to do the job too, it has an interchangeable cooktop. You can find it at Lowe's and Home Depot and I got to tell you regular grills can go up to $1000 even more. You can get them for like 150. I feel. In this case, the most money you can spend on a grill that you have, the better off you are because they last longer. You can get warranty parts. But here's the real deal as we always have. Go on Facebook place. People are moving, they can't slap the grill with them. They want to get rid of it. So you can go on Facebook marketplace and buy someone else's gently used grill for a whole lot less. So, that's my tip for the day. That is the real deal. Yes. That's why we've invited the owner of Finding Francesca to our studio this afternoon to tell us how she's amassed over 110,000 followers on her Instagram page alone. Thanks so much for being with us Francesca, man. Right? Got it. All right. First, you're New Jersey based, I guess, lifestyle and a blogger. Where in New Jersey are you based? Um Currently I'm in Somerset County. All right. Tell us how you have managed to amass so many followers. What is the motivation behind what you do? Um I just love to share what I'm doing. I love to travel and I love to try different restaurants. So I just thought, let me just share it with my audience. Yeah. And there's, there's a motivation behind it, isn't it? Yes. Yeah, definitely. Um I feel like there are a lot of other travel and lifestyle bloggers, they're able to pick up and go to like Bali for two weeks and you know, that'd be nice. Yeah, that would. Um But I work full time in corporate. So it's like, you know, I just wanna show that we can, that we can, um, spend time in New Jersey and enjoy it. But what kind of places do you show folks in New Jersey? Um, all different types. I show like a lot of restaurants, I'll show like weekend trips. Like, I partner with a lot of like airbnbs and things like that. So, yeah, all throughout New Jersey and then beyond. Well, I see a picture behind me. There's a cactus behind me. So I don't, no, that is not. What other places do you talk about? Um, so I do, I basically like do everything. I recently went to China, Japan, India. So I show the case some of that Puerto Rico. But places that you can go to that's not gonna cost you a lot of money or you find ways of going to places that might be expensive. But you're like, hey, we can do it on the cheap. Yeah, I do a little bit of both. Yeah. And I also do like a lot of weekend trips in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, things like that. Now, you offer some special content, like solo travel stories, finding the best restaurants in New Jersey. If you could name some of the best of the best. Right here on News 12 in New Jersey. The best restaurants. Is it hard because there's so many great ones, so many great ones that we really, uh, you know, before. I feel like you used to have to go to the city to find great restaurants. We have tons right here. You don't need to go to the city for all that. Yeah. How did you go from 20,000 followers to 100 and 10,000 in just one year? I would say, I think it's my authenticity when I speak with a lot of my followers in my D MS. They really appreciate how honest I am. If you look at some of my videos, you'll see that. I'm just, you know, honest and I think people appreciate that on the internet. A few other things I do differently is I do a March Madness bracket to find the best restaurant in New Jersey, which my fiance actually came up with. So I really appreciate that. Um And then I also did um a series to find the best Italian restaurant and then I um share how I travel solo. So all of that, all of that. So if there are viewers watching right now, who are wondering, well, how can I get so many viewers in such a short or followers? I should say in such a short period of time, what kind of advice would you give them? Because a lot of people are wanting to do this right now, make money off of their social media pages. Yeah, I would say just be yourself and share what you're doing right now. I think people are so afraid to start. You just need to start and be authentic to yourself and, and you'll, it'll go far very far, 100 and 11,000 followers for you. It's been a lot of fun because you bring the party wherever you are. So there we are. So let's talk about the wines first before we get to anything else. Tell us what we've got here. So we have my um red blend with which is called Raunchy red. I like to do like fun names because like, you know, I'm crazy. Um And then we have Rowdy Rose which is like perfect for summer. All right. So let's talk about how you got into the wine business. Of course, you love wine. We know that. Yes, I love wine, but it was like, always my goal to like have my own wine brand. So the fact that I connected with this company and it's Washington wine, which is like the best wine that you can get. It was like a match made in heaven. You've got some boutiques in New Jersey as well. You've got three of them now I do. Yeah, the cookie shop. So my first one, um that I open is in Madison, New Jersey. So that's like my big one. That's like my baby. Um And then I branched out to be in New York where I grew up and then I just opened um seaside last year um in Seaside Heights on the Boulevard. So it's actually um our one year anniversary, this weekend. We're looking at some pictures of you showing your boutiques there. You've evolved so much since you started on MTV, right? So much. But now you're a mom. You live in Morris County near your family. That's why you're there and people still can't get past your past. Isn't that right? Doesn't give you talk about a lot of viewers out there? I mean, well, your comments on Facebook. Oh, a lot of viewers out there don't like me. Oh my God. I mean, I'm just like a normal person and yeah, I have a past. You see it on Jersey but, I mean, I'm a really good mom. Well, I have to say I'm a great mom. We love you. Ok? The haters are gonna hate, hate, hate, hate. Ok. That's my. Exactly. On tiktok recently. You, you actually said that you shut down the, the online trolls because they were calling you a bad mom and you were like, not having it. Well, I mean, you can call me whatever you want when it comes to like, you know, you're a drunk, you fall down your embarrassment to Jersey, whatever. That doesn't, that doesn't like affect me. But what does affect me is when people tell me I'm a terrible mom because I know I'm not right. I put everything into my kids. So it's the mama bear that comes. Absolutely. Absolutely. And that's your priority right now. That's all about my kids. And I say everybody has a past, it's all about my kids. Right. Exactly. I mean, we're showing you, we're showing some angel. Yeah. There we go. We just, uh, got back from Disney. There you go. There you go. Got back from your kids recently. Found out about your nickname. Snookie, didn't they? How did you react to that? Um So my daughter, like I yelled at her and she goes, ok, Snookie and I'm like, what I was like, how do you know what that is? Because you know Tik Tok. So I'm like, Mommy's an actress. Everything that you see there is not real. Right. So, I mean, eventually I'm gonna have that talk one day, like, you know, mommy was crazy before I had you. Um, but yeah, I'm an actress as of right now. All right, you're not going anywhere. We're gonna talk to you again this morning to talk more about the haters. Really? Because that's really what gets you right now is no. Really? Because I don't mind when they, like, talk about me. it's when they, when they talk about my kids as a mama. No, we are flying. I love it. We're talking about Nicole Snookie Lizzie Lavelle of Jersey Shore, family vacation. Who's here? That's right. The party is here. Good morning to talk about her messy ma ma wines. Thanks so much for being with us. Thank you for having me. Welcome. It's National Wine Day. It is National Wine Day. Please tell us about your wines right here. And how did you come up with this name? So it's called Messy Mama because we all know I can get a little messy when I drank, especially my wine as a mom. Um and I call myself moma, not just like a regular mom. So it's like messy mama. It's totally perfect. And obviously I had to incorporate, you know, my leopard because I love leopard. Um So yeah, I just wanted like a nice red blend and then a good rose for summer because summer is coming up. We're all down the shore. So I'm excited for my wine and I love the names that you, you know, put, put on and then a raunchy red because when you drink it, you get a little raunchy, you get a little raunchy. So how, how did you decide to that? You were gonna launch a wine brand? What made you decide? Um Well, I love wine and my, my, my goal um I feel like as a mom was to open up my own winery one day. So it's like, let's start a little small start with actually having my wine brand and then eventually like have my own field of grapes. I love it. And then you, this is quality stuff. This comes from Washington State and they, they have the best wine. Exactly. Yes. So I'm gonna mess it around here. Yeah. You wanna have the best wine for my momma. Let, let's talk a little bit about the show right now, shall we? And you just wrapped up season six. Yeah. There were some wow moments. I can't deal. I'm like, I'm too old for this. Like what is happening? What was the most wild moment for you? The engagement? Angelina's engagement. Yes, that was crazy. But I think my favorite moment was just girls time because we never really did like a girls trip before. So the fact that we got to do that and like have our own time together, we went to the winery and like I made my own wine. It was just like nice to have girls time. And what about the announcement of the baby coming from the situation. That was exciting too when you got you guys. Really? Oh, yeah. You love that. Yeah. So talk a little bit about what's coming up for season seven for you. Give us a little, I mean, there's drama, there's, of course I try to stay out of it because I, I just wanna have fun. Like, I have three kids. So when we film it's like my time away to like have a glass of wine and like, I'm away for the kids for like two days. So like it's my time to like, I could sleep until nine. That's not a thing when you're a mom. Um So I try and enjoy myself and I think I did. Sammy sweetheart's coming back. She is ah confirmed. Right? Jersey Buzz. You heard it here? All right. But did you know there's a whole lot of adventure to have off the sand in this road trip close to home. We take it a wild play at Jones Beach. The zip line is for sure. One of the highlights, it launches you from a platform high in the sky over the beach and takes you on a 700 ft ride. Let's just make this as tight as possible you don't want. Now, besides the thrills, it's just an amazing way to see Jones Beach like you've never seen before. Let's go. 321. We're going to put you in a place of feeling like I don't know if I can do this and you're going to do it anyway. And that feeling is going to be amazing and it's going to show you that, you know, sometimes in life when you say maybe I can't do this, you could do it more than you think onto the adventure courses. And there's a lot of them, you can walk platform to platform, walk across tight ropes, fall on nets, rope swings and, and the best part about it is there's different levels a classic course to ease into things. And then you can work your way up to the extreme course. And if you have kids who are a little unsure, don't worry, there's a kids course that only goes up about 15 ft. And finally it's the, what's to fear? Jump 40 ft high in the air? It's a plunge that you'll never forget. So, what's to fear? Right. 321. What? Oh, the guy comes running after me. Well, the holiday weekend is almost here, but it seems like we're in a real holiday mood today. We're like, it's a Friday, even though it's Friday, it sure feels that way. These guys hit it right off. I mean, they're talking it up, talking about steak, talking about different competitors. There is no competitor. We invited the guys from Porter House party to New Jersey's morning show and let me tell you, they did not disappoint as for how this party started. And the interesting slogan, we started having our friends over for steak nights and 15 people became 30 and we started putting it on social media blew up. This slogan probably happened about two months in. We started to realize once people were eating the meat, they wanted to do crazy things and the parties just got rowdy and it was a good time. The Porterhouse party also made its way inside news 12. I'm blushing while reading this as I was working, treated to delectable delights as well. It's time to get outside and we have the perfect place for you to visit in today's road trip. Close to home news Twelve's Faith Graham shows you all the Newtown Creek nature walk in Brooklyn and all it has to offer tucked away in Green Point along Newtown Creek and Whale Creek is a self guided nature walk. People love to come here to jog. Um just take a nice walk along the waterfront. Enjoy a lot of the native plantings that are here, take in some really incredible waterfront views, but it isn't just a trail. It's actually a public art space we brought in an artist and this was his vision about creating a publicly accessible waterfront that you know, talks about the history of the neighborhood. It was designed by environmental sculptor George Tragus. Visitors are greeted with a quick lesson in history with each step they take carved into the top of this granite piece is a map of the original watershed of the creek. We're right here. They're fossilized tree stumps and they are 385 million years old. As you walk the trail, you're met with views of the city skyline and the city's largest waste water treatment plant. The Department of Environmental Protection says the goal is to educate all those who pass through on the history of the plant and the ground. The trail sits on it. It's really, really special and to be able to do that as a part of, you know, our mission at D E P to safeguard the environment. The half mile loop was completed in 2021. But the idea first came to light in the nineties now it serves as a gathering spot and an escape from the bustling city school groups come, we have a tour program but also just people coming out on their lunch break or at the end of their day just to sit by the water. The trail is open from dawn to dusk and you can enter off of Kingsland Avenue in Green Point Faith Graham News. 12.

Is a foodie dream and it's all for a good cause. Taste of the South Shore showcases some of our top restaurants and it kicks off today at Gatsby on the ocean in Jones Beach. Our Nicolette Sleman is there. Taste of the South Shore is back tonight and this is a foodie event. So if you like food, this is for you, there is unlimited budget with media, Long Island. So you guys have been doing this event for three. Thank you so much and good morning. Everything is special about this event from our food partners, our beverage partners, our shopping partners, including IP lounge and a lot of fun spaces, fire pits and all kinds of entertainment.
