The Dutchess County District Attorney's Office announced findings from its investigation into a December police-involved shooting in Poughkeepsie, with a grand jury ruling the actions of three officers justified.
The grand jury determined that Kevin Fitzpatrick attempted "suicide by cop" by making a false 911 call reporting a man with a gun to lure police to an apartment building at 17 Rose St.
They say evidence confirmed that Fitzpatrick pointed what looked like guns at the officers, forcing their response. It was later revealed that the weapons were actually BB guns.
Fitzpatrick was indicted on multiple charges, including three counts of menacing a police officer, reckless endangerment and falsely reporting an incident.
The three officers involved, on administrative leave since the shooting, were cleared of wrongdoing.
District Attorney Anthony Parisi said full body camera footage will be released after the criminal prosecution against Fitzpatrick concludes.
