The West Babylon Union Free School District is considering closing one of its elementary schools.
The announcement was made during a board meeting Tuesday.
A group hired by the district to study the situation recommended closing Forest Avenue Elementary School because it has the fewest students of any district school north of Sunrise Highway. Transportation costs are also a factor.
Forest Avenue Elementary School is one of five elementary schools in the district.
The district says renting out Forest Avenue Elementary School could generate as much as $880,000.
