Two Mount Pleasant schools were placed in a lockout on Monday afternoon.

Parents waited in pickup lines at Westlake Middle School and High School.

It began when the main office received a threatening phone call around 2:45 p.m.

Police say the phone call came in after regular dismissal, so the school went into lockout mode.

“Everyone is safe, treated it as the real thing and we're actively investigating it now as a terrorist threat," says Mount Pleasant Police Chief Paul Oliva.

All after-school activities were canceled.

School district officials say there is no threat to the public.
