Your holiday cards are signed and sealed with holiday spirit, but every season's greeting you are sending is more money you are spending.
Marshal Cohen is the Chief Retail Analyst at Circana and says the cost depends on the type of card.
"The average greeting card for holiday runs at about a $1.50," says Cohen.
Cohen says that should cover the cards you pick right off store shelves, but more "established" cards are more costly.
"This year, expect to spend about $4.50 on some of those personalized, customized photograph cards."
On top of what you put in the envelope, is the postage required on it. According to Cohen that cost climbs about 10% every year.
For that reason, some say they don't do cards, while others feel a text message or call is more than enough. They know it is the message, not the method that truly matters.
