From Wilton to Litchfield – Thunderbolt 12 has been visiting many Connecticut communities covered in snow this morning.
Newtown had a few inches of snow. Crews at Newtown Public Works are scooping up mounds of dirt, sand and salt to make sure the roads are safe.
Their trucks and plows have been on the hundreds of miles of Newtown's hilly roads treating and plowing snow and slush. Tim Whalen with Newtown Public Works says the trucks and crews started preparing for this storm on Friday.
"Things are melting up nice. We came in and we did a preset for 1 a.m. this morning expecting a little mix, a little freezing rain…and looked what it turned into,” he said. “The guys were out there in time for rush-hour traffic.”
Newtown Public Works says it will be checking roads throughout the day.
