On one of the coldest days of the season, street vendors on Eastern Parkway and Utica Avenue say they are undeterred by the freezing temperatures.
“Winter, fall, and summer... we’re out here,” said one vendor.
For many, the cold weather doesn’t just bring challenges, it also brings opportunity.
“We sell more hats,” said another vendor, noting that business tends to pick up during the holiday season.
Many say they see their work as a way to make an honest living. “This is our job,” one vendor explained. “We don’t rob, we don’t steal. We try to do the best we can.”
Despite the chill, the vendors are proving that no matter the weather, the hustle doesn’t stop.
