We have helped you price out the travel, the turkey, the sides and now it's time to price out the pies for Thanksgiving.
The sweet treat caps off the delicious meal, but can you get a sweet deal? Caleb Silver, editor in chief at Investopedia, says yes. Silver says, "Bakery products are relatively stable in terms of price compared to last year, if you are going out and buying a pie and bringing it over to a loved one's house, you are looking at around $6 for the very basic pumpkin pie or pecan pie, of course you could spend a lot more than that, but you can get these pies at a relatively good price these days."
And News 12 looked at all options. Like Silver said, the basic premade ones in grocery stores will run around $6. We bought just the basic ingredients to make our own pumpkin pie, pie-filling, evaporated milk, and a pie crust cost a total of $9.28. And that would also require some additional spices and our time.
At Cestra's Bakery they do all the work for you. A homemade pie comes in at $20 and feeds 10 to 12 people. Doreen Venezia who works at Cestra's says, "When you spend that $20 and you take the first bite, you are going to know where that money went."
They also sell mini pumpkin pies for $4 and mini apple pies for $5.
