A Stamford man is facing charges in connection to distributing child sexual abuse material, police say.
In January, police received a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children that Koa Vierra was using Kik Messenger to distribute child sexual abuse material.
Police were able to determine that Vierra used an IP addressed registered to an apartment on Prospect Street.
In April, police searched Vierra's residence and seized numerous electronic devices that they say contained child sexual abuse material.
Police say Vierra was located in California in June. It was arranged to have him return to Stamford to turn himself in.
Vierra's vehicle was located Thursday, and he was arrested.
He was charged with possession of child sexual abuse material and promoting a minor in obscene performance.
