Driving around New Jersey is about to get more expensive in 2025.
Starting Jan. 1, tolls on the Turnpike and Garden State Parkway will increase by 3%. This marks the fifth toll increase since 2020, when the Turnpike Authority approved "indexing," a process that removes public hearings ahead of toll increases.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has also approved toll increases, which will cost the average driver using E-ZPass at peak hours $16.06. Additionally, congestion pricing will take effect on Jan. 5, with New Jersey commuters paying a $9 toll to enter Manhattan below 60th Street.
Also starting Jan. 1, the gas tax rate will also increase by more than two-and-a-half cents per gallon.
