Firefighters in Sullivan County remain at the scene Wednesday of a massive fire at a former iconic hotel.
Rescuer images show intense flames spanning multiple vacant buildings at the abandoned site of the Pines Hotel on Laurel Avenue in Fallsburg.
Fallsburg fire officials say the fire started Tuesday, shortly after 4 p.m. County officials say it spread to five buildings altogether and that rescuers remain at the site dousing hot spots.
So far, there is no word on what caused the fire. Sullivan County Bureau of Fire officials are investigating.
It’s the second fire at the hotel, which has become popular to trespassers and “ghost hunters,” according to officials. In 2023, a fire at the site was determined not to involve any criminality, according to state police.
