The Connecticut Department of Children and Families released a timeline Friday of its involvement with Jacqueline Torres and her family.
The 12-year-old was found dead in a storage bin outside of a vacant home in New Britain last week.
Torres' mother, aunt and mother's boyfriend
face charges related to her death.
The timeline states that from Jan. 2013 to May 2022, Torres lived with a relative.
DCF says their last visit with Torres was in Sept. 2022 during an investigation involving her younger siblings.
Torres' mother was granted sole custody in June 2024.
In January, DCF opened a new investigation into one of Torres' younger siblings. Her mother told the agency that Torres was being homeschooled and was out of state with a relative.
DCF then conducted a video call with a person Torres' mother claimed to be her.
Investigators say she likely died in the fall of 2024.
