Police say a man was found dead early Friday morning in Flatbush.
It took hours for NYPD's Crime Scene Unit to search through the garbage bins outside an apartment building on East 21st Street — where police say that man’s body was found.
When multiple bags were brought in the van, speculation about his body parts being dismembered became a bit more real.
News 12 was told by neighbors that the victim lived inside the building with his partner, and the two were known to fight often — until recently when only one of them would be seen coming in and out of the apartment.
“That's not something you hear every day,” said one neighbor, Christian Marrero. “It’s kind of crazy and I mean I was in Iraq, so I've seen some crazy stuff but out here, yeah that’s not something you hear of.”
On the scene, something was seen loaded onto the gurney in the back of the medical examiner’s vehicle.
The scent of what appeared to be a decomposed body also lingered in the area.
“I know that crime in the city is down,” said Jared Glenn, a nearby resident. “I know that violent crimes are maybe not down, but crime in general is down. This just feels like more of this weird, like, senseless violence that's happening, whether it's on the subway platforms or whatever. Just kind of like crazy violence. I don't think more cops in the street is the answer.”
