A Bronx man is facing animal cruelty charges after police say he brutally killed a cat in what he described online as a “ritualistic sacrifice.”
Investigators say 26-year-old David Mosley, who goes by the name “Church of Ububal” on social media, posted disturbing videos and comments bragging about the attack. In one post, Mosley reportedly wrote, “you should’ve heard how he squealed.”
The footage quickly spread online sparking outrage and alarm among animal advocates. Little Wanderers NYC, a Bronx-based rescue organization, says they began receiving anonymous messages from supporters who had seen Mosley’s content and wanted it investigated.
The group urged followers to contact Crime Stoppers and the NYPD, helping generate multiple complaints that eventually led police to Mosley’s Fordham North apartment.
News 12 also alerted both police and the Bronx District Attorney’s Office after reviewing the disturbing video, which had been circulating online before Mosley’s arrest.
According to police sources, Mosley caused more than $5,000 in property damage inside his apartment, including writing on the walls.
Animal advocates say this case highlights how critical public awareness and community reporting can be in stopping animal abuse.
Mosley now faces multiple charges, including aggravated cruelty to animals and criminal mischief.
