WHAT TO KNOW:
Some isolated showers will remain possible early Sunday night under mostly cloudy skies across Long Island. Cool temperatures will settle into the region overnight, leading to a cloudy and chilly start to Monday morning.
Temperatures Monday afternoon will hover near 60 for many communities. While much of the day is expected to remain dry, there is still the chance for a few isolated showers later Monday evening. Many neighborhoods, however, are likely to stay dry through most of the day.
More dry weather returns Tuesday with an abundance of sunshine expected across Long Island. Temperatures will also turn slightly milder, climbing back into the mid-60s during the afternoon.
Clouds increase Tuesday night ahead of the next storm system, setting the stage for a wetter stretch of weather during the middle of the week. Rain is expected to arrive by Wednesday morning and continue at times through Thursday. A few thunderstorms could mix in as well, but the primary concern as of Sunday evening appears to be periods of steady rain and soggy conditions Wednesday into Thursday morning.
Looking ahead to next weekend, temperatures are expected to rebound into the 70s. Forecast trends as of Sunday evening suggest the weekend will remain mainly dry, but forecast details could still change depending on how the midweek storm system evolves.
