ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES THIS WEEK
Mostly cloudy skies are in place to start the day, but we’ll catch some welcome breaks of sunshine as we head into the afternoon. It’s going to be a bit breezy at times, with wind gusts pushing near 30 miles per hour, so keep that in mind if you’re out and about. Temperature-wise, we’re seeing a noticeable split across the area—highs reaching into the 60s and 70s along the North Shore, while the South Shore stays a bit cooler in the 50s and 60s.
For tonight, skies turn partly cloudy and the winds begin to ease up. It won’t be as chilly as recent nights, with lows settling into the 50s. Overall, a quiet and comfortable night ahead.
Heading into your Tuesday, we may start the morning with a little patchy fog, especially in those typical low-lying spots. That will give way to a mix of sun and clouds by the afternoon. It’s shaping up to be another warm day, with highs climbing into the 60s and 70s, continuing that mild stretch.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, we’re talking about the potential for record-breaking warmth. High temperatures could surge into the 70s and even 80s in some spots, though the South Shore holds onto cooler readings in the 60s. Record high at Islip Airport is 78 degrees set in 2024, which is the current forecast high. There is a slight chance for a few late-day rain showers, but much of the day stays dry. Beyond that, temperatures remain above average as we head toward the weekend, keeping that spring warmth locked in.
