ALERTS: An "extreme cold warning" has been issued by the National Weather Service from Saturday at 1 p.m. through Sunday at 1 p.m. The forecast for wind chills 15 to 25 degrees below zero remains.
WIND ADVISORY: 9 a.m. Saturday through midnight Sunday. Strong winds gusting 30 to 50 mph. High winds can lead to trees and branches down and power outages. Be alert for changing weather conditions.
Cold, wind and then snow on the way. Light snow and snow showers will develop after 10 p.m. through Saturday afternoon. The strong winds, cold and snow can create dangerous travel conditions. Poor visibility and near blizzard conditions possible. 1 to 3 inches of snow and there is a chance eastern Suffolk County could see higher amounts.
Our next round of Arctic air arrives. The coldest-feeling air of the weekend will be Sunday morning with wind chills around -10 to -20 degrees. This is potentially life-threatening cold if you are not careful. Cold-weather-related health impacts like frostbite and hypothermia can develop in less than 15 minutes. Please avoid as much exposure to the cold during this time and dress in layers. That said, it will be dry if you are heading to festivities for the big game! Just watch out for some lingering icy conditions on the roads.
