A Heat Advisory is in effect through Friday for the entire city.

Heat index values up to 101 degrees are expected today and tomorrow. The National Weather Service says it may extend the advisory into Saturday. A Heat Advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time.

Seniors and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions are at an increased risk. Homes without air conditioning can be much hotter than outdoor temperatures.

A mix of sun and clouds is expected this afternoon with high temperatures in the upper 80s but heat index values near 100-degrees. Pop-up thunderstorms could become strong this afternoon and produce damaging wind gusts and localized flooding. The best chance for storms is late this afternoon.

A shower may linger overnight. Otherwise, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy and very humid with lows in the 70s.

A mix of sun and clouds is expected to start the day with very hot and humid conditions. High temperatures will once again approach 90 degrees with heat index values near 100 degrees. There's an increased threat for afternoon pop-up storms. Storms may develop as early as 2 p.m. but are more likely after 4 p.m.

Friday night will be muggy with a lingering shower possible and a mix of clouds. Overnight lows will once again be in the low 70s.

The weekend will have a classic summer feel with a mix of sun and clouds on Saturday and Sunday, along with plenty of heat and humidity. High temperatures will generally be in the upper 80s, but the heat index will climb into the upper 90s. The heat and humidity may trigger strong afternoon thunderstorms on Saturday after 3 p.m., but storms are not expected on Sunday.
