Greenwich police and Greenwich YWCA held its annual Walk the Walk & 5K Run Against Domestic Violence at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park.
According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, intimate partner violence affects more than 12 million people every year.
Events like Sunday's walk is one-way organizers say communities are able to raise their voices in solidarity for those who cannot.
"There's somebody right now who's waking up and who's trying to get breakfast ready, who's also tending to their children, who is afraid that their partner is going to kill them this morning," said Jessie Dimuzio, director of The Harmony Project at Greenwich YWMA.
Anyone who needs help can call the YWCA 24/7 Domestic Violence Hotline at 203-622-0003.
