Pasta lovers across the country had an extra reason to indulge, as Friday marked National Pasta Day.
It's part of the monthlong celebration of National Pasta Month.
There are more than 300 kinds of pasta, according to the Encyclopedia of Pasta. And for shoppers at Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace, many of those varieties can be found.
Dondei Peterson, who makes pasta and fresh mozzarella at the store, says his passion for pasta goes back years.
"I've been making pasta since I was 12 years old," Peterson said. "I started at my uncle's pasta shop, and I stumbled upon Uncle Giuseppe's; they found me and they offered me a job making pasta and fresh mozzarella, and I just love it." Pasta's history ties to Italy, with a first reference in the 1100's in Sicily.
