A tech entrepreneur from Texas plans to set up a factory in Bridgeport with the ultimate goal of making parts for flying cars.
Justin McAfee, a mechanical engineer who holds a commercial pilot's license, has dreamed of flying since he was 12.
"While my dad was teaching me to fly, we almost crashed and got killed, but we survived, thanked God, and that experience got me hooked on aviation," McAfee told News 12 Saturday.
McAfee has brought his company, Wright One Inc., to Bridgeport.
"We're currently manufacturing computer parts in China, but we're planning to set up shop here in Bridgeport and begin making our products here," McAfee said.
"Our ultimate goal is to adapt our patented manufacturing process for making CPU cooling fans, the blowers that keep computers from overheating, to electric propulsion systems for flying cars," McAfee said.
Bridgeport Councilman Jorge Cruz says he's working with McAfee and the City of Bridgeport to help Wright One Inc. set up shop locally.
"He's got big dreams and we want to help him realize those dreams," Cruz said.
McAfee says he expects his company to create 25 jobs in the short term.
"But over time, as we get into the field of electric propulsion for flying cars, we hope to create more than a hundred jobs," he said.
