The spotlight will be on one inspiring Suffolk police officer at a New York Jets game next month.
Suffolk County police officer Matias Ferreira was surprised Wednesday, with the news that he has been named their next 'Veteran of the Game.'
He will be honored when the Jets take on the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 5.
Ferreira lost both his legs below the knee when he stepped on an IED in Afghanistan, in 2011.
He joined the Suffolk County Police Department in 2016, becoming the first double amputee officer in the nation.
