Once again, an air quality alert is in effect due to a buildup of ground-level ozone. This is not a result of wildfire smoke, but instead the consequence of stagnant air and not a lot of wind. This is in effect until 11 pm. There will be another air quality alert in effect for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Overnight will remain warm and balmy, with temperatures staying in the low 70s. It will be mostly clear with light winds.
Saturday will be mostly dry, but a line of showers and storms threatens the evening. Keep an eye on the forecast. These will be brief but could pack a punch while they are here. Pockets of downpours, lightning and gusty winds could accompany the line of showers and storms as they move through.
Until then, it will be dry, muggy and very hot. Temperatures will soar to the low 90s.
There are also high rip current risks for Atlantic-facing beaches on Saturday. Only swim where permitted and near lifeguards.
The storms will offer limited relief from the heat. Temperatures will be in the 80s on Sunday and the 70s and 80s for early next week.
