Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Jonathan Cubit visited students at Meadowside Elementary School in Milford Wednesday.
He spoke to third graders who are currently learning about weather and climate.
As part of their unit, students are making weather instruments, testing conditions and are comparing the weather between Milford and Florida.
STEM Teacher Jolene Guarino says it's important for students to learn about the weather and forecast because it impacts their daily lives and it’s something they can relate to.
"Number one, I hope they have fun. I hope they see that they have choices as to when they grow up, maybe someone might have an interest in weather and might want to explore going into meteorology. And seeing all the behind the scenes things that meteorologists do, it's not just being on TV," says Guarino.
Guarino says students love to learn and talk about extreme weather.
