Today: It’s a chilly start across Long Island with many areas seeing frost. It’ll stay on the cool side through the day with dry conditions and plenty of sunshine. By tonight, temperatures will drop again, especially inland, and many areas could see frost develop by early Friday morning. If you have plants outside, it’s a good idea to protect them.
Friday: The day stays mostly dry, but humidity will be low, which means anything that sparks could spread fire more easily—especially in dry brush or grass. Later in the day, clouds increase and there’s a chance for a light rain shower in the evening, though not everyone will see much rain.
Weekend (Saturday–Sunday): A cold front moves through Saturday morning, bringing slightly cooler air, but temperatures will still be pretty close to normal for this time of year on Long Island. Expect highs mainly in the 50s to low 60s. It stays dry, with some breezy conditions Saturday and lighter winds on Sunday.
Early Next Week (Monday–Wednesday): A big warm-up is on the way. Temperatures climb into the 60s Monday, then jump into the 70s by Tuesday and Wednesday in some spots. It will stay mostly dry, but the combination of warm temperatures, low humidity at times, and occasional breezes means there will still be some risk for fires to spread if they start.
