There is a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m. for New York City.
The heat advisory will expire this evening as showers and storms march through the borough on a strong cold front.
A few of these storms could produce damaging wind gusts and small hail. Gusts could be between 40 mph and 60 mph. Pockets of downpours could lead to isolated areas of flash flooding.
Showers will taper off overnight and cloudy conditions with showers are expected for early morning commuters on Thursday.
Thursday is mainly cloudy. Temperatures will be much cooler. Cloudy skies and chilly weather are expected for Friday into Saturday. Steady rain is expected Friday night and all day Saturday. Lingering showers will persist on and off Sunday, but conditions improve later in the day.
