STORM WATCH: RAIN EXITS, IMPACTS LINGER

Earlier waterspouts prompted brief tornado warnings shortly before 7:00 pm in southwestern Nassau near Atlantic Beach, Lawrence and Island Park. The National Weather Service is reviewing these for whether or not it became an official tornado after coming on land. Either way, extensive damage was caused from intense wind from a nearby vortex, primarily in Atlantic Beach. This impact was extremely short-lived an isolated. The more widespread Long Island impact was flooding caused by up to around three inches of rain.
The rain is ending from west to east overnight, but areas of flooding can linger. Keep an eye out for ponding and large puddles if you have to travel overnight and during your travel Friday morning.
