ALERTS: EXTREME HEAT WATCH is in effect from Wednesday at noon through Saturday 9 p.m.
Good morning! We have some hot and humid weather heading our way, and an Extreme Heat Watch remains in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Saturday. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the 90s for several days, with heat index values reaching the upper 90s to low 100s, making it feel even hotter. Be sure to take precautions if you'll be spending time outdoors later this week.
For today, we'll see a mixture of sunshine and clouds with warm conditions across the area. Afternoon high temperatures will reach the 80s, and the UV index will be high, so don't forget the sunscreen if you're heading outside. Tonight will be partly cloudy, with the chance for a passing shower or thunderstorm during the overnight hours. It'll stay warm and muggy, with lows in the 60s and lower 70s.
Wednesday brings a mix of sun and clouds along with building heat. High temperatures will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s, and a few spotty late-day showers and thunderstorms could develop. Some of those storms may produce brief heavy downpours and gusty winds. By Thursday, we'll have plenty of sunshine and hot conditions, with highs in the 90s and feels-like temperatures climbing into the lower 100s.
The hottest weather arrives Friday, with afternoon temperatures in the upper 90s to near 100 degrees. Heat index values could range from 100 to 110 degrees, so limit strenuous outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and check on those most vulnerable to the heat. A late-day pop-up shower or thunderstorm is possible. Looking ahead to the Fourth of July on Saturday, expect a mix of sun and clouds with continued hot weather. Highs will once again be in the 90s, heat index values will push into the upper 90s and lower 100s, and a few late-day thunderstorms can't be ruled out.
