Efforts in the manhunt for a homicide suspect in Greenville are ramping up, New York State Police say.

The state assigned additional patrol units to Greenville and its surrounding communities, in an ongoing effort to locate and apprehend Thomas Ryan, who is wanted in connection to his 70-year-old father's death.

Robert Ryan was found dead inside his home after it erupted in flames on Thursday evening. His 32-year-old son, Thomas, was caught on a neighbor's surveillance footage carrying a garbage can full of chopped wood toward the home and running away before the blaze erupted.

Authorities are asking for the communities help in locating Thomas. They advise home and businesses in the area to review surveillance footage from around 6 p.m. on Thursday through the overnight hours and to report if they see anything suspicious.

State police say residents should expect to see officers canvassing neighborhoods and knocking on doors.

They are also reminding residents to stay vigilant as the search continues and to report any sightings of Thomas.

According to authorities, Thomas drove away from the area in his father's 2016 Toyota Prius, which holds a New York registration. Police are also monitoring public transportation - they say Thomas is known to travel by train.

Robert Ryan's cause of death remains unknown as of Saturday evening.
