Shark bite victim at Jones Beach identified as Sullivan County resident

Officials said the 20-year-old was waist-deep in the water last Wednesday when she was most likely bitten by a young sand tiger shark.

A woman from Sullivan County was injured in a suspected shark bite while in the water at Jones Beach, according to New York State Parks.
Officials said the 20-year-old was waist-deep in the water last Wednesday when she was most likely bitten by a young sand tiger shark.
She was taken to the hospital with minor cuts to her leg and foot and is expected to be OK.
