All charges have been dropped against a former Seton Hall basketball player who was accused of sexual assault.
Michael Nzei’s trial was supposed to start in a few days.
The incident allegedly happened at Nzei’s Newark home on Christmas Day in 2021.
Nzei’s attorney says that prosecutors voluntarily dismissed the charges.
“This is yet another example of a well-known athlete…who was dragged through the mud merely because of his success on the basketball court and later in the corporate world,” attorney Patrick P. Toscano, Jr. wrote in a statement. “This entire debacle was, for want of a better word, sad.”
