Precision Windows in Yonkers celebrated 45 years in business.
Owner Joe Doherty told News 12 that the last 45 years have gone by in the blink of an eye.
"It's just something that I love. I was born into the woodwork business,” he says.
Precision Windows celebrated at Katie’s Cottage on Thursday.
The company makes custom windows and doors. Although it’s located in Yonkers, it has made its mark in Westchester County and Manhattan.
"I did all the windows in the Swedish Embassy down on Park Avenue and actually, I did the French Embassy as well,” says Joe Doherty.
Joe Doherty says did those windows about 25 years ago. He says there have been many other memorable projects as well.
His family is very proud of him.
"His work ethic is like none I've ever seen,” says Dawn Doherty, Joe’s daughter.
Dawn Doherty has been a part of the business for about 10 years. She helps out in her spare time. But she’s watched her father grow the business her whole life.
“My dad is very passionate about carpentry and woodwork so I just hope that he can continue to do it for as long as he's able,” she says.
Joe Doherty says he’s watched the industry change with new technology and regulations.
But he’s not done yet.
"I have no plans to retire,” he says. "I never thought I'd still be around, but I am, believe it or not. And it feels great, absolutely wonderful.”
On Facebook, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano congratulated Precision Windows and said it’s been a vital business in the city.
