Police say a 17-year-old is recovering at the hospital after being shot this morning in Fort Greene.
According to police, the incident happened at 8:30 a.m.
Police say the teen was shot in the stomach nearby Park and North Portland avenues and took place steps away from Dr. Susan McKinney Secondary School of the Arts.
The victim is expected to be OK, but at this hour the shooter remains on the loose.
News 12 reached out to the city’s Department of Education and they replied saying in part “While the incident took place off campus, this display of gun violence is deeply concerning.”
The DOE also says that extra support will be available of the students and the nearby community, following an unexpected act of violence.
