The group Bronx Rises Against Gun Violence [BRAG] organized a rally in Fordham on Saturday to call for an end to gunfire.
Dozens stood in the frigid temperatures outside 2593 Grand Concourse, where police said a 40-year-old man was shot once in the face, once in the neck, and twice in the back on New Year’s Day.
The victim was taken to the hospital where News 12 was told he was still recovering on Saturday.
BRAG and other activists gathered in front of the apartment building, distributed flyers and used a bullhorn to echo their message that every day is a fight against gun violence.
“We’re letting the community know that we have violence interrupters, we have outreach workers, all credible messengers that are from the community, to help resolve conflicts and beef so that they don’t turn out like this incident,” said Jeremy Molina, director of BRAG.
As for the New Year’s Day shooting, police said no arrests had been made as of Saturday evening.
