Phillipsburg police are cracking down on drivers who are endangering school children.
The Phillipsburg Police Department is teaming up with local schools in an initiative called “Safe Path Home.”
As part of the effort, authorities are posting real videos of drivers illegally passing school buses. Police say they hope the release of these videos will deter anyone from violating the safety laws.
"If one person decides, ‘Maybe I'm not going to pass this bus, I don't want to get my vehicle, my face put on Facebook and have a summons mailed to me,’ you know, then we did our job,” says Officer Justin Keller.
Fines for violating the law can cost about $100 and either community service or 15 days in jail.
