Teachers, parents and students come together every Wednesday to take part in the Bergen Bike Bus.

Volunteers say it's a safe way for kids to embrace biking as a mode of transportation - while also being fun.

“You don’t think much about walking your kid to school, you don’t think that’s going to be a dangerous situation - it should be the same with biking," said Dustin Goldman, a parent and cyclist.

Every Wednesday beginning at 7:15 a.m. volunteers meet at the corner of Bergen and Thomas Boyland streets to discuss the route and make safety decisions.

The route takes about an hour as they make their way to Court Street, picking up kids and parents on their way.

“It’s great to be in community with all these other people who want kids to feel safe on our streets," said Goldman.

Goldman and another parent created the Bergen Bus Tracker to make it easier to follow along and join the group.
