With this morning's rain behind us, there will be a few days to enjoy for the rest of the week across Long Island.
Be prepared for chillier mornings, especially on Friday, and cooler afternoons. High temperatures will stay in the low to mid-60s Thursday and Friday with plenty of sunshine.
Saturday is easily the better half of the weekend. It looks dry all day with a mix of sun and clouds and high temperatures back in the mid- to upper 60s.
STORM WATCH: The News 12 Storm Watch Team continues to closely monitor the evolution and track of a coastal storm that will be nearby Sunday into Monday. While the exact local impacts of this storm will become clearer over the next couple of days, I would plan on a wet and windy end to the weekend.
One to 3 inches of rain, plus wind gusts up to around 40 mph, would be a worst-case scenario at this time. There will also be a good chance of coastal flooding. While low, there is still a chance the storm can track a bit further south, which would allow for lesser local impacts.
Stay with News 12 throughout the week and weekend for the very latest hyperlocal weather information on this next storm chance. In the meantime, enjoy the drier and truly fall-like weather for a few days.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear, breezy and a little chilly with lows around 47 degrees.
THURSDAY: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs only around 60 degrees. The normal average high temperature is 67 degrees. It will feel like the 50s at best, though, in the afternoon with the cooler wind. You will also want a heavier coat on Friday morning. Lows near 39 degrees.
FRIDAY: Chilly in the morning. Mostly sunny and not as breezy but still cool with highs around 63 degrees. Lows near 50 degrees.
