Police say that a man died after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing Peninsula Boulevard in Hempstead.

They say the 64-year-old pedestrian was hit by a Toyota Tundra making a left onto South Franklin Street around 8 a.m. Wednesday.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The driver of the Toyota, a 49-year-old, stayed at the scene and did not sustain any injuries.
