Paterson firefighters saved a 4-month-old baby girl from choking.
Officials say the baby’s mother rushed the child over to the Paterson Fire Department headquarters on McBride Avenue Tuesday morning for help.
Fire marshal Pedro Cartagena gave the child back blows to help clear her airway.
“Then the baby started crying. A crying baby is a good baby. That means the baby’s breathing,” Cartagena said.
The mother says that she is grateful for their help.
“I felt safe. I felt like, ‘OK I have some help in this moment,’” she said.
The infant is expected to fully recover.
