Two men were injured in a shooting Friday night in Melrose, according to police.
Detectives say it happened just before 9 p.m. at East 152nd Street and Cortlandt Avenue. They say a 30-year-old man was shot in the leg and a 31-year-old man suffered a graze wound. Both victims are expected to be OK.
Crime scene tape was still at the scene on Saturday morning.
According to NYPD statistics for the area, the number of people shot is on the rise – 34 last year and 51 this year through Dec. 15. Residents say the numbers reflect how they feel.
"Of course it's a tragedy. It's the holidays. Nobody wants to get shot during the holidays. It seems to be regular over here in this neighborhood, but you know how it goes," said Quay.
There was no information on a suspect or motive as of Saturday morning.
