Two police officers were injured during the pursuit of a suspect driving a U-Haul Friday in Newark, according to authorities.
Police say they received a call reporting a possible abduction just after 3 p.m. on South 9th Street.
Upon arrival, officers found a U-Haul with a male driver and a female passenger inside.
The driver allegedly refused the officer’s requests for him to exit the vehicle.
Authorities say he then struck the police car and two other parked vehicles before speeding off.
The suspect was later arrested after abandoning the U-Haul.
The whereabouts of the female inside the vehicle are unknown.
Police say the two officers were hospitalized with minor injuries.
The suspect now faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault.
