Kids scored big in the Bronx, where the longtime Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club got a $7.5 million facelift.
The newly renovated clubhouse on Randall Avenue was revealed following a ribbon cutting on Monday, and it includes modernized amenities, and a state-of-the-art digital learning lab, performing arts center and teen center.
Sinclair Hollingsworth is the director of operations for the club, he says it's the first upgrade the facility has seen since 1969.
"Nothing has changed since 1969, and now we are able to reconfigure the existing space, to provide more spaces and serve more children throughout the day," said Hollingsworth.
Hollingsworth says the facility serves 500 kids and teens daily, but the upgrades will allow an additional 100 kids from ages six to 10 years old access the clubhouse every day.
The goal is to build character, and support both academic and athletic success for the next generation.
"At the end of the day, hopefully this will get more kids off the streets and into programs that can provide," said Hollingsworth.
