WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
It is not a warm welcome from Mother Nature this January. The first few days feature frigid digits and temperature stay below normal through the week.
Expect some light, scattered snow showers approaching midnight in the tri-state area. Then, watch for a squall line sometime between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. that will bring a quick burst of intense snow showers.
Be prepared for slick driving conditions with the potential for black ice in areas untreated.
Friday morning's temperatures will feel like the single digits.
It appears there won't be relief from the cold temperatures through all of next week, so break out the new sweaters, hats, gloves, scarves, etc.
No major weather events are expected but cold, dry weather sticks around into next weekend.
