The National Guard is covering duties at Sing Sing prison as corrections officers picket outside Wednesday, marking their seventh day of protest and a third day of statewide mediation.
The officers, some in dark clothing and glasses to hide their identities after calling out of shifts, are demanding safer working conditions, more security, shorter shifts and the end of the HALT Act.
They’ve noted state police circling the area but say they’re prepared to picket until their needs are met.
