A 16-year-old student was stabbed in the abdomen near a high school in The Bronx.
Police received a call around 8:45 a.m. for a stabbing at a location opposite 90 Terrace View Ave., an address near John F. Kennedy High School.
The boy was transported to New York-Presbyterian Allen Hospital in stable condition.
The city’s School Safety Union tells News12 the teen was able to walk inside to get help from school safety agents, who then assisted with transporting him to a hospital.
A statement from the Department of Education says the stabbing was a non-school related incident outside of the building.
"Violence has no place in our schools or our communities. This morning, after a non-school related incident outside of the building, on the perimeter of campus, our outstanding school staff provided the necessary supports, and NYPD responded," said Jenna Lyle in the statement.
