An Elmont man accused of assaulting two police officers Saturday is facing multiple charges, according to authorities.
Police say officers on patrol around 3:30 p.m. recognized 28-year-old Hurguens Jasmin walking on Dutch Avenue.
They approached him about an outstanding warrant for violating an order of protection in August 2024.
Nassau police say he then repeatedly punched one officer in the face, attempted to gouge out the other’s eye with his finger and tried to flee the scene.
Both officers were hospitalized for treatment, according to authorities.
The charges against Jasmin include two counts of assault, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.
He was arraigned Sunday in Hempstead and is due back in court on Wednesday.
Police say he was previously charged with resisting arrest and two counts of assault with injury to an officer in August 2024.
He was also convicted of assault with intent to cause injury to an officer in October 2021.
