Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard stood alongside those with Montefiore Einstein to unveil its transformed Family Health and Wellness Center at Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital on Monday.
The project was completed with the help of the $41 million New York State Capital Grant to transform the facility.
It will provide access to Mount Vernon residents, as well as Westchester County residents, who need specialists in fields such as cardiology, neurology, gynecology and more.
The facility will also utilize modern equipment, work stations, exam rooms, record systems and patient monitoring devices.
"Without access to safe primary care, then patients often times end up utilizing our emergency room for primary care. And that, we want to avoid," said Regginald Jordan, vice president and executive director of the Montefiore Wakefield campus and Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital.
The facility will officially open next Monday at 12 N 7th Ave. in Mount Vernon.
