After nearly three decades serving up sweet treats in Bed-Stuy, Lady Moo Moo is bringing its colorful flavors and neighborhood charm to Bushwick.
From giant gumball machines to walls lined with candy and colorful sorbet, the longtime ice cream shop is officially scooping up a new home in the community. Owner Steven Lipschutz says being part of the neighborhood means more than just serving dessert.
“Growing up, my mother would always say that your house is only as good as your neighbors. So, it's important for us to fully embrace our neighbors that have been here — delicious ice cream on top is always a plus!” Lipschutz said.
Inside the shop, customers can find everything from specialty chocolates and milkshakes to nostalgic favorites like Pez candy. And when it comes to the ice cream, flavors like Earl Grey, fresh vanilla and honey are all sourced straight from local businesses nearby.
“It’s the yummiest, I think. But it also supports the businesses — they’re really putting their effort into making sure that their products are to the highest standard,” Lipschutz said.
With 70 seasonal flavors in rotation, customers say there’s always something new worth trying.
“Super fresh. It's sweet but not too sweet,” said a longtime customer.
“I like all of the flavors because they taste delicious,” said another customer.
And the sweet treats don’t stop when summer ends. Lady Moo Moo is now open year-round, Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 9 p.m.
“Even if it's not ice cream season or if it's raining or snowing, you can still come inside and enjoy some yummy treats,” Lipschutz said.
