A 59-year-old man has been identified as the victim of a deadly attack in Bushwick.
Police say Gerry Hill, who lived nearby, was badly hurt on Knickerbocker Avenue around 7 p.m. Monday. He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.
Investigators believe the violence started as some kind of argument that turned physical. Hill suffered head injuries after being hit with an object.
One neighbor said he saw Hill steal a beer before the attack, but police have not confirmed those details.
"He grabbed the beer I guess and just walked out and then came back again. He tried to do it again and the guy stopped him. They had it from there. They started fighting, and when I came back, I found that the guy hit him with a stick or something like that," said Junito.
Two people are in custody as detectives work to figure out what led up to the violence and whether Hill knew them.
