Heading north for today's main street, New Jersey. We are in Carney. Yeah, Lauren do. She's been highlighting local businesses for Main Street and Lauren. You're on a food tour today. What are you trying? We are now, we're going to try pastries. Look at how big this spot is that I did not get the big memo or he Bry and bakery and this is beautiful. Yes, it is. I love. My place is p is the logo is beautiful. The, the light wall is amazing too. Mm He just opened. I just did. Yes. Um Almost four months. We're gonna be in January of 23rd for the fifth month. Um And it's amazing. Uh I love the, the spa. I love the community Karney. This is my town, you know, since I came to this country in 1995 and I decided to open my own business and we have several different pastries and our signatures are the empanadas different empanada, empanadas. Yes. Yes, it does and it tastes really amazing. We have different flavors. Um This is our signature right here. The rainbow cake empanadas, the best ones, the carnival cake that Portuguese cup cake which is not always got, those are such a hot, you know, a hot item. You have to, you have to go all over trying to find them, but they're right here. Yes. The cupcakes I made the cupcakes is really amazing. Also, we have different type of coffee chinos. Uh We have iced tea, we have uh latte, we have the mu uh the menu there, sandwiches, any type of sandwich smoothies. We have uh for healthy, you know. Uh but I love my business. Um I opened this with uh my heart with love for the community and um and the community is being great with us. Uh They're amazing. Um They're here every time buying the empanadas and the coffee. They sit down here. I have a little, little table for them so they can feel comfortable. But um I do really thank God and the union that, you know, I my dream came through with the bakery and you have a huge following too on social media. Look her up on Instagram, you over 10,000 followers and every night, every night getting people getting people to come over and just to for them to come and see my place. That's great. Thank you so much. Oh, and I think this place is so great. You probably open up another one, right? I am rated to bakeries. No, I'm doing a laundry mat right now is going to be a 18 Carney Avenue. Stay tuned. It's going to be beautiful as the bakery. I welcome, welcome. And people community come over to see this beautiful spot. There you go. I think uh a rainbow cake with a cup of coffee on a snow day, even if it's a rain day. That sounds good to me. And we also have doordash. Friday and that means it's time for main street, New Jersey this morning. We are in Carney. Yeah, Lauren des highlighting local businesses there. So Lauren, I hear you're now getting pizza. Look at all this pizza. We have all of this pizza here. We're at Mr Nino's. We have Dimitri. We have Juan here and what pizzas we have at 645 in the morning. So here we have a plain pizza cheese in our tomato sauce. We have a buffalo chicken pizzas, buffalo sauce with our just grilled chicken and cheese on top. We have the peroni pies, the Sena fe deep dish chicken onions and tomatoes cooked in a garlic, white wine sauce. The margarita slice, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and basil. Very simple smell. The basil too delicious. Yes. Alti is back there rolling out some dough for us. We're gonna go check in with him but he just sprinkled the basil on real nice chicken bacon ranch slice. One of our most popular slices and then obviously a Sicilian huge and let's go check in with Augustino. He's from Sicily. So I bet you that Sicilian style pizza is really good. I mean, you guys are the managers here. You can come on back. They give us the OK, good. You guys are the managers here, right? Yes, we're the two managers. We've been with him about eight years. All right. So Augustino, how's it going this morning? Good. Really good. What are you doing? I'm making a pizza. How long have you been making pizza for 30 years? And since I came from Italy and how is that, how's that going for you? What, what, what's the secret to making good pizza? You gotta put it at heart and then you get it coming from your heart, like, you know, that's like something you really want to do it, like, you know, I do really like pizza. I really like, I really like pizza too. Can we stick around for another half hour pizza? Man, I eat pizza every day. I love it. That's how, you know, their pizza is good. Ok. We are in North Jersey for today's main street, New Jersey. Our Lauren de is highlighting local businesses in Carney Lauren. The pizza was so good that you stayed for more to make us a little jealous, didn't you? It is. And look at this like working at the front. Count here, look at all the pizzas they have ready for us this morning. Mr You know, we have to meet, we have one a you know, we have Carlos in the back cooking up some more entrees for us. Now you guys came here as kids and now your managers, what's your favorite part about that? I think just being able to be a part of the community, seeing how busy it was and getting an opportunity to help run the business too is like an honor almost. And look at all these seats that you have here and you're telling me when it's school lunches, kids are coming here for lunch and it's pretty packed. Yeah, it gets really packed full dining room. We, we get like a line of kids out the door almost. Technically, it's crazy. Ok, let's go talking to Augustino because I kind of got a little made fun of before because that's really not authentic Sicilian pizza. You made us authentic Sicilian pizza like the traditional Sicilian. It's not mozzarella. Is it like the onions? Yeah. Yeah. This is piping hot. You said breadcrumb gravy cheese because from SICU like back then and then I got no money to buy mozzarella. So there was use and make it believe it was mozzarella but it's a breadcrumb but it tastes so good. That's the traditional Sicilian. Yeah. And then we just transformed it to all the mozzarella cheese and all the sauce and everything. And then what is, what's Carlos cooking up back there? What do you, what do you have? Oh, that's the, what? The chicken veal ninos, which is a fresh tomato roasted pepper basil. And I love that is my favorite thing to eat too. So amazing. Carlos the sauce, right? It is Friday and time for main street, New Jersey. And this morning we are in Carney. Yeah, Lauren do is highlighting local businesses there. Lauren, the food continues. Where are you? Now? It does. We're at a classic luncheon out. I mean, look at this crowd this morning. Good morning. I love it. Ok, John. So what's good at this place? Obviously, everything you got a whole crowd here. We try to bring everybody around and our tailor ham, egg and cheese is to die for. Yeah, it really is. What's the secret? It's making it with love and we try to do our best and keeping everybody part of the family really helps the show. Oh, and how long have you guys been open for? It's been a restaurant for 80 years and it's been in my family for north of 55. So that actually keeps everybody coming in and it keeps the locals really feel like they're coming to their second home. I love that should go talk to some of the locals. What do you say? All right. So what are you eating this morning? You just put your fork down like you said, the tail of ham is to die for. So that's the my staple when I come here. Two eggs over easy with tail a ham. And uh it's delicious and um, it's not exactly the pillar of health diet, but it's ok. Once in a while it's good for the soul. Exactly. Can you show up that mug real quick? I love the mug. Whenever you go to luncheon diner, you gotta have the mug. There. it is. There it is. That's the name. What are you guys doing this morning? Your poached eggs are on a delay, right? It's a TV. Delay. Oh, you're on a TV delay. French toast for French toast. What about you? Oh, you're just sticking around to be on TV. We got Lenn here. Hi Len. How you doing? Taylor hand egg and cheese the best in North Jersey. If you go to South Jersey, you end up with pork roll, pork roll. I hear you on that. And this is the Mayor morning. Just see you morning show that there is, this is it. This is what people come from miles around to have this. They take it to go take it to work and this is mine. Yes. I'm a little light on the tailor hand because otherwise it would be another two inches high. You put a special, I'm a regular and so most of these people are regulars. Oh, I love it. It is so busy at Argos Bakery. I have Alba here and popular spot this morning. What's everyone getting? Hi, how are you? My name is Alba. Uh Lauren is my partner. We have two partners. Here is a Portuguese bakery like in Kearney is a local business around 25 years old, but we are the new owners around one year and a half. And we are trying to continue to the traditional pastries, traditional bread, traditional king cakes. Uh Everything is Portuguese, everything is homemade and everybody's, everybody's here. Of course, everybody's invited to join us to taste old pastries, especially with the snowstorm coming. What's better than just staying home with some pastries? Of course. And so the, the custard cups, right? These are the most popular. Right, right here. And what is our more popular in, in Portugal? We sell nutella ones or regular ones. We have some pastries as well here and the king cake. I don't know if that's ok. Being baked downstairs, right? Everything is baked downstairs. Everything is made here with the baker with the, the the person who do the cakes. Look at this. I mean, this is just nonstop. It's so busy. It's not even a holiday going on here. Everyone's just getting their breakfast this morning. Look at this. We got a customer walking out. Thank you so much for showing us around. Let's check in with the mayor. Hi, Carol Jane.
